Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

March 29th

Stop with all the rumors regarding layoffs. District and Regional positions are being eliminated, leaving only the DM and some DHR. Current District and Regional staff that are in good standing with the Company will be placed in stores and they will keep their pay. The Company is not looking for another mass layoff and will not have a repeat of the department manager purge. If these District and Regional staff can’t make it in the stores, they will be placed on PIP and flushed out of the system. Quit being so paranoid.

I took a $20k pay cut, work only 40 hours now and I am a lot happier. I gave 23 years of SERVICE to BBB and was hurt on August 3, 2017 but my health, attitude, life and family are better for it. Money is not everything! Yes, I loved my salary at BBB but my life is more important. GOD speed BBB!

District staff are already paid out of the stores, just not listed in their payroll hours for productivity. Put a district staffer in a store at the same pay and they reduce the stores hourly associates hours and overall they are saving money. They have been dropping district staff into store level positions for the last 2 years and not replacing any ones that leave.

I for one hope these investors get rid of the top guy. He is the most over paid and under performing employee in the company!

Maybe it’s being accelerated since a group of shareholders is now trying to start a proxy fight to replace the board

Starting tomorrow in what way? Thought the BIG conference call was Friday. Although many Dist and Reg are off that day. Seems weird. Seems like a lot of fake news yet again.

It's going down starting tomorrow.. The phone calls you've overheard and copies left on the printer of final pay paperwork.. Who knows who's going but it isn't going to be pretty. Company is sinking faster than many realize which is so sad because so many of us have put in so much time and effort.

The only true fact we know that there is a conference call on Friday. What the outcome is from that we will all find out. I hope they do not let the sm/asms go. All the greed of the top dogs is what is killing the company.

So ok insider answer this...are the targets now just Dist and Reg? Or are there store level cuts also?? You seem to know what's up and don't care now so give the full story.

As a matter of fact yes I am district. I have nothing to lose now. Boys and girls the hammer is coming down on 90% of you guys. Don’t act surprised you knew judgement day was close. I have a job lined up just want to see if we get a separation pay of any kind.

I have a feeling we’re getting bought by a private equity which will restructure the entire way we do business.

I’m not a district or regional staff member, I’m close enough to hear what’s going on. Things are much worse than is being told.

No “Current DM” is this well spoken or written! Do you get the same emails as I do? Misspelled words, all caps and bad punctuation runs rampant among BBB leadership.

You district and regional are running scare. Stop running you’ll only be tired when they catch you yo give you your pink slip. Rvois going to speak up, why keep your mouth shut, BBB has no loyalty to any of us. I say tell the dirt and let it fall where it belongs, DP is so dirty and nasty, we have all experienced his low down tactics. SM’ s and OPs get ready to be a common worker cause the new regional and district guys are going to set in your offices and you’ll be the new mule!! We are loving this!

Also, in addition to my reply about this being fake news, a CURRENT DISTRICT MANAGER -- you claim to be one -- would not post this info, they woud keep their mouth closed.

Case closed.

Here we go again, more fake news. This doesn't make sense, too many details missing and vagaries abound.

We are to believe that district and regional are to do what the seasoned associates handle? BS!

I can tell you for a fact that many of the managerial responsibilities have already been handed over to associates.

So, what are we to believe? Well, I guess we will find out.

Most will end up in higher volume stores that can absorb the extra payroll to allow them to do what they do best - sit behind a desk.

Won't this kill the hours of floor associates? Do they really expect District and Regional to be able to do those jobs? And if they keep their pay how does this help?

No it doesn’t, but if they can’t work in the store they will find themselves on a PIP. Don’t shoot the messenger.

Doesn’t make sense to load up a stores payroll with those salaries and since stores only get a certain number of hours a month devote 50 hours to someone else besides the store manager to sit upstairs in the office all day
