Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

It's too late...

the issue is Oracle is too late in the game .. where as AWS has already bagged the 1st position.

I know loads of customers using AWS, and moving away from the Damn Oracle DB to use AWS managed DBs liek Aurora etc. AWS Engineers already have the managed services and products ready which Oracle and others are dreaming and talking about.. They can think 10000x faster and better than the old school Oracle Engineers.

Even Mark Herd group is full of VP, directors and managers who don't know how to run bussiness, may be enjoying fat compensation. People are so insecure in leadership teams, hiding failure after failure year after year. How business can survive with only "selfish" leadership team? Unfortunately, senior leadership teams are not asking tuff questions? Inevitable situation, Smart folks are going outside, better for sinking ship.

MBA case studies are loaded with these classic "too late to the market" stories (nightmares?). No amount of cash can be spent on development or capital to reel in AWS or Microsoft at this point, and there are no acquisitions that can put a dent in that lead either. Good luck, Oracle Leadership!

LE is, I suspect, actually going to try to make the vision he spoke of last August https://youtu.be/cJxmowxEsRA become what Oracle IS. How with no capex, g#d only knows. Nothing but cloud before he g0es.

There is no second.

Knowing how to use slack and confluence doesn't make you "10000x faster and better than the old school" OP.

Just wait till the next major hack or security breach and then tell me how brilliant these guys are.

You are absolutely right. What compounds the problem at Oracle is the lack of capital spending. To build out a real cloud infrastructure costs a lot of money that oracle has been unwilling or unable to spend. Instead oracle has spent $30 billion the last year buying back its own stock. Combine these 2 and it’s game over.
