Thread regarding AIG (American Intl Group Inc.) layoffs

Any regrets from people who quit?

I've been considering quitting, but I am worried that I'll end up regretting leaving without having a way to return to AIG.

Are there any people who have quit and still occasionally check this page? If there are, can you please tell me if you have any regrets on leaving or are you happier and better off now?

Amen! AIG pumps fear into their employees so they stay and get underpaid but outside there are good companies that treat their employees with dignity and respect

None whatsoever. There is a better world outside AIG where people are respected.

Not gonna lie...i know some managers are just weak people and you can even make the argument that managers are probably bad because they are under pressure from the top. That being said, their lack of skills and employee development, to me, is personal

It's easy to get back in after leaving as long as you left in good terms

good for you that you didn't pass up the opportunity outside you have to think of yourself they'll never honor volunteer resignations they want to pick and choose who they lay off. There may be people who just got disgusted qnd quit but I haven't heard about any of that after STI

so maybe last week was a good week no layoffs no resignations and everybody got bonuses so now everything is all cool?

I left at the end of 2018. My resignation coincided with a round of redundancies affecting my team. I offered to take voluntary redundancy, but that denied. They had already identified who they wanted to cut and the "business cases" for those being put under consultation was clearly built to target particular people.

I quit, because I couldn't risk being RIF'd, and I knew that I couldn't expect another opportunity like the one offered to me to be available should I get RIF'd in the future.

Don't know what department you're in or what level you're at or even how old you are because that makes a big difference these days but the morale is horrible yes you can wait to see if they let you go but I would look outside in the meantime you will sleep like a baby not every company is run with this toxic chaos overworked disrespect fear mode mode

It' not really any of my business , but i'd try to wait and see if you get let go. I want to quit everyday also but at least if you get let go you'll have a source of income for a short time..anyone who puts up with AIG's b.s. deserves it. Don'T let people scare you into believing getting let go will mean your career is ruined. People want to see if you have skills and if you'll fit in with the team..not if every previous job put a superstar sticker on your shirt you know?

Best of luck, hang tough, and if the company is treating you like garbage..make them put in the work to get rid of you
