Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Another round in May

Many OCI colleagues were shown the door last week, soon after DJ sent a ridicolous mail saying how great and shiny we are, and that we are the future of Oracle Corp. Overall, looking at Aria, more than 500 people got rifed.

Have heard from my manager that there will be another round in May already decided, then there should be a re-org in September but still to be confirmed. He also said he is interviewing outside, and so should I.

Have also heard from a 3rd party that OCI-C was heavily touched, but I don't directly know numbers.

DJ's org in Area had -508 on Sunday vs Friday but up by a couple hundred this morning. But in general Area is the same, our org changes were entered only two months later

Read and copy what Magic said.

Look at the OOW2019 announcement and then tge agenda as it is filled in. Look at the topics, the thrust. If those areas are your area, maybe breathe come June but be vigilant. If you are in something far removed, just be ready to get out on the best terms you can, such as a new job.

Here's the real truth from inside, as a person that was involved in it from a high level (VP level), and can tell you straight up.

The goal was a 20-30% reduction, spread across RIFs and PERFs. This was spread about in late January, and hit most management in Feb.

The RIF this round is for cleaning out based on cost. OCI (OCI-C too because it got shuffled under DJ before December) is under pressure to reduce costs since they are literally operating at a loss. Ignore whatever they claim in the investor briefs, the math does not add up. They have been under significant pressure to reduce costs ASAP before end of fiscal year. This round was the RIFs.

Next up, are the PERFs. Those are performance related terminations. That will happen mostly in May, before end of fiscal year. That is why OCI was pushing hard to get all the performance reviews in as soon as possible. They will get the same package as those in last week's RIF.

Then, there will be further cuts for those overseas - because it takes longer to work through the mechanics of that, versus the US. If you are based outside of the US, then expect a late summer job hunt.

They did not base the RIFs on performance - they based it on the buddy system. You know, the kind where you keep your buddies and whack the people that make you look bad? Yep, that kind. Oracle is in terrible financial position, but they can keep the charade going for a while.

DJ and others directly under him are trying to do their best, but honestly the folks under some of the main people (under Clay for example) are the ones that are very very political, and will do whatever it takes to keep their buddies vesting. When those folks' vesting starts to pop, they will bail out, leaving OCI a skeleton crew of incompetent id--ts, leaving DJ and Clay and folks like that to clean up that mess. There are lots of lies going upward, so the people that actually care are not getting the truth.

Good luck. Sell your Oracle stock and get out before the rest crumbles upon the remaining. Oracle will be sold as sc-ap, much like Sun was to Oracle.

Is there a specific date in May?

@YfWNSe6-uwv not that much maybe, because sometimes a manager got RIFed, all people under him/her will become 'orphan' for a while.

Aria was immediately updated after the RIF? Things sure have changed since I left; it used to take weeks to get updated before.
