Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Former head of HR is NO HERO

Not sure why my thread was deleted about the former head of HR, but this is for those of you that are applauding her jump ship because you think she is some kind of hero.

Trust me, those of us that interacted with her applauded as well but not because anyone liked or respected her. She is directly responsible for the lack of knowledge in HR because she spearheaded the outsourcing. So when you call and ask a question and can't find anyone that knows the answer, do not blame the CEO. Plenty of stuff to blame him for, but the problems in HR fall on the shoulders of the woman that jumped ship.

If you haven't worked for her or interacted with her, our opinion and speculation is not needed or welcomed. In other words, STFU.

Don't say the name. The person just wants the post reported and deleted.

I am a manager. The last two times I called HR4U:

They could not answer my question so put me on hold to find someone who knew.

They came back to tell me they still didn’t know, so I should submit my question at MyHR.

Then... the MyHR link didn’t work!

Maybe we don’t even have an HR department any more, just people who answer the phone and send us in circles until we eventually find/assume/guess the answer ourselves or just give up.

Outsourcing was happening BEFORE she came and went. It's because of the direction of our CEO to reduce our salary that we now add another layer of complexity by laying off what few people we do have here to be replaced with consultants hired in from firms. It's the consultants that do not have the knowledge of the person they are replacing and do not have the same work ethic. These consultants use firms to get them hired into a new position, year after year. By doing this, even though it may be painful, eventually the company will be able to say job posting x is now only valued at $15 an hour because we have all full time consultants on the team performing the functions now.

If you're in HR, you should see where this is going.
