I heard people talking today about layoffs coming at the end of this week. I tried hearing more but could not pick it out. I'm in bld 062 marketing but was in bld 002 at the time. Has anyone heard any details?

Maybe they could sell off corporate aircraft and just charter what they need when they need it? Nah, ain't gonna happen. Those fancy folks will never sit where mere mortals have sat.
Any news on a possible GBS sell off to pay for RedC-ap?
Hope they will ask volunteers instead of axing randomly.
Understand that jobs are funded year to year. Fall plan is usually finalized in January and the work is completed in March. This is where the fights for funding happen. Last years RA happened on Thursday, March 27th but there were more than a month of back and forth between corp finance, the Brand and the cross function teams. If chosen, it comes down from the upper finance levels from formula of age, time working, what benefit plan you are on, salary and other items. You will be told to look at other internal jobs but that is a road to nowhere. There is a good chance your boss will tell you about a job in some group underneath your VP or higher. Understand the management team is telling every RAed employee about the same job. Understand that open job may already have a candidate chosen. Also if you scream and make noise and protest, it takes agreement by your Ginni functional report and not many execs want their name on something that high I say the RA will happen tomorrow-Thursday, March 28th as it makes you leave before the start of 3Q. Take advantage of Right management or whoever is the transition company. Read all documents before you sign and immediately start looking and I know it is hard, give about a 10% damn on you IBM job and 90% on finding a new job. The severance is only 1 month so it is not worth waiting it out unless you are retiring for good. GOOD LUCK

This confirms the layoffs at some of Silicon Valley’s big boys, BUT it doesn’t speak to IBM’s plans.

Oracle had huge layoffs last week so IBM layoffs might be this week.

RA's usually occur after one of those useless town halls.
There is going to be some type of layoffs or big divestiture. IBM still does not have the full amount of money to purchase Red Hat. My guess the layoff is going to be small but a division is going to be sold off.
