Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

I just don't get how HCL is making $ if they are paying us exactly what Xerox was

I heard that the 3,000 guatemala employees were badged over too, so what does that tell you? Do we think this was just done so when Xerox sells it will make them look better, I just don't get how HCL is making $ if they are paying us exactly what Xerox was, so you know the only answer is to eventually get rid of us, that's the only way this would work for them, our customers need to know this is happening, I know so many signed contracts was because we were local, you know our competitors are letting them know too!

I’m glad that @YdViYzU-1txe brought this up. This is a valid observation.

Look into what HCL does. They are going to learn the roles they are bringing you over to do. Then eventually fire you and bring on people at a lower rate. Essentially Xerox has hired HCL to learn your position and lay you off so that they don't have to take a hit on the street and announce layoffs on their own. This way they can say you were transferred.

I’ll be honest with everyone. After working for Xerox for 20 years, regardless of the results they will call it a successs.

What it comes down to is what is their commitment to you and what is your commitment to Xerox.

If you feel like they aren’t committed to you, leave on time or early if you can. Don’t stress about a crushing work load. Go spend time with your friends or family. When you die, people aren’t going to remark and admire at your funeral about how you were a wonderful HCL/Xerox employee. They will comment about the care and time you spent with them, the investments you made in them, not Xerox.

Don’t ever forget, this life is very short. Go live it. Don’t sacrifice your family and friends for Xerox. Find an employer or role that will not make you choose between your family, friends and work.

I have had a number of personal experiences with Xerox management and executives where it was clear they put their employees last. Don’t reward them for it.

Take control.

Xerox is claiming $90M in savings for 2019, and $120M a year after. That's $10M per month in savings. If they are going to realize $90M in this fiscal year, the changes will be sooner rather than later.

You’ll know when they layoff people.

Initially that's true - there won't be a reduction in expenses. But once HCL gets processes documented, they will start letting people go and move that work to offshore, where it is MUCH cheaper to do. As time passes, it gets more profitable for HCL because they are moving more and more job functions offshore. I've heard that HCL will start letting some resources go in April because their job function was already fully documented before the re-badging activity last week. That pace will only pick up as they finish documenting all of the other job functions.

It's also being done to give a potential buyer the ability to shed resources that they don't need. For example, HP has their own Billing, A/P, Admin, etc resources, so now that Xerox has essentially removed those functions from its books, HP won't have to take those resources on as employees. They can quickly let them go after purchasing the company without having to pay severance or impact their unemployment insurance premiums.

They will make the money after they learn everything you know, and then move the work to somewhere that is a fraction of the cost in labor. And then pocket the difference in savings.

That is what happened to Xerox Engineering in 2011
