Thread regarding Sears layoffs

When are we going to hear some plans for the future?

That is if there is any future for this company. In any case it’s about time they announce what will be their plans for the company and some sort of strategy that could potentially make us survive. Will such an announcement be made any time soon or will we have to wait until the new leadership is established?

What future? Eddie's just going to keep closing stores and selling assets to make money for himself.

Not a problem. Like I have said to many mangers before, you are not the only awful retail job out there. I must pass 10+ stores with “now hiring” signs permanently up between my house and my sears store. The economy is no longer bad and Sears no longer has leverage to hold a really bad job over my head 🙂. In fact I have more power between myself and my manager and he knows it. How many people are waiting to sign up for a job at Sears, not many.

@2hwa Look. I'm a manager. Do you really have no awareness of how it looks in an environment where people are getting laid off at a drop of a hat and you're asking for time off with no accrued vacation? You're first on the chopping block.

Excuse me? I said SAVE the money from the vacation payout and take unpaid vacation in the summer IF you have plans. Tell me again how someone misses out in this situation?

Yes, an environment where people are getting laid off left and right is exactly the time to go on an unpaid vacation when you have zero accrued. You are full of sh--.

I have a feeling @iuwx is Eddie, because he's the only person who could possibly be so disconnected from the typical American working experience to write something like that. No wonder Sears lost over $10B and went bankrupt on his watch.

@iuwx yes because full time workers can schedule unpaid vacations whenever they feel like it 🙄

How did anyone’s vacation get “squashed”? Save the money they give you when your vacation is cashed out and take the time off if you have plans this summer as unpaid. It ends up being the same, certainly doesn’t take a college degree to figure it out.

There hasn't been a distinction between Kmart and Sears management for almost 15 years

Don't you know? SYW, Credit and PAs are going to be our profit! They will save the company. Oh, and turning us into Kmarts, demanding we do things the way they do without the same systems, equipment, or even the understanding of what upper management is even talking about.

Never mind the fact that the kmart management that is now in charge of the Sears stores have no concept of our processes or procedures..

It's a nightmare.

It’s been awfully quiet with regards to what’s going to happen to sears/Kmart

I did hear all full time people will be cashed out of their current vacation time and be set to zero but still accrue time at their current rate.. looks like they just squashed and vacation plans for summer for full time workers.

I genuinely believe your average sixth grade class could have done a better job with brand management than Sears has Eddie and Leena have over the last 5 years

Last day to file a claim is April 10th with the last hearing scheduled before the court on May 21st...

I wouldn't expect anything until the lawyers are done playing footsie with Judge Drain

Until the Donald takes over and hires Robert Mueller or Hoda Kotb there is no future for Sears. Just more dysfunction from Michael Avanetti and Eddie, driving this one great company further into hell. Make Sears great again!

It's the typical dysfunctional lunacy, opaqueness, and incompetence that Sears leadership has come to be known for
