Thread regarding AIG (American Intl Group Inc.) layoffs

More AIG layoffs in June?

Looks like more layoffs are coming to IT sometime in June. I've heard this at the office and I think I've seen somebody mention it here as well (can't seem to find it now, though, so I might be mistaken.)

It would be nice if somebody knew more about this and was willing to share more details with us...

I remember when I got clipped, best day of my life. IT Management was and still is a joke, all these buddies high fiving and doing none of the work.

DATS - provides shared services such as Cognos, Talend, Hadoop, etc.... are being offshore in June. Director from a dats team has already switched orgs. Another SME quit today.

Fairly certain that most of dats will be offshored in June.

why is it BAD to go offshore? every other companies are doing that.

Once everything is outsourced, AIG will have no intellectual capital left. What that means is that you have outsourced your competitive advantage and then its all down hill from there. Once all the claim processing system was completely outsourced to IBM, where is the opportunity to reduce that cost? IBM's processing cost will continue to go up and AIG will never be able to bring it back in-house because there is no one at AIG that can build/integrate/manage it. All gone, all outsourced.

Simple question, is AIG in growth or decline mode?

So it appears from this site that all level 23 & below jobs going overseas does seem more plausible than not just from the way things are playing out they certainly have no affection for the 60+ crowd they’re moving them out rapidly dumb down the workforce that’ll get’r done such callousness shown in so many ways against so many good people AIG deserves what it sows Karma is a b..tch & it’s coming in this life for the perps whether they be share holders or upper echelon execs 👿

Yes i recall it mentioned by another poster as well. If this is another unprofitable quarter you can be sure there will be more layoffs in June. There are still more people who can be purged, I know this for a fact. Whlile some competent coworkers are overworked, others aren't pulling their weight or underutlized due to incompetent, oblivious management.
