This is not true. In engineering there are a lot of people who are motivated by working on interesting projects or working with nice people who aren't going to back stab you. Money brings in certain types of people who are interested in that, but my experience is that those people are generally corrupt.... trying to get something for nothing, etc.

You're assuming the layoffs didn't target some of those.

You can say the same thing about Oracle engineering everywhere:
