Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

How is the layoff done?

Just wondering how does the actual layoff at oracle look like? Do they call you into the conference room? Are you told by your manager or does the guy from HR break it to you? Are you handed the paperwork instantly or is that done afterwards? Are you escorted of the property or do they give you time to clear out your desk and say goodbye to your colleagues?

Depends on a group one belongs to.

Sales folks who got axed last year (I was one of them) got summoned in a conference room and we were let go all together.

I've heard from other folks that 1:1 meetings with a manager and HR have also been used recently.

It depends. It even differed within the group that I worked with.

On the afternoon before, some got e-mail advising of a "mandatory" 1:1 meeting with their manager and to reply indicating receipt of the e-mail. In the 1:1 meeting, the manager read a standard blurb from HR.

Some were asked to dial into a conference call. I think this happened because so many first-level managers were RIFed that the remaining managers could not make all of the notification calls in a day.

This time around was a little more humane than the Sept. '17 RIF where people were finding out from Fed Ex delivery notification and managers weren't told who their team would be until the afternoon after people were notified.

If you are remote, the Manager calls you after your normal hours and asks" Are you at work?" then he brakes the ice and says is all from HR and he has no saying! like if we did not know it was coming, but the most amazing thing is Don Johnson's email the morning of the lay-offs when they have not even started to notify employees........................ Oracle Cloud infrastructure is not delivering and they need to get into the revenue of classic Cloud OCI-classic, gimmicks to satisfy numbers $$ but they are not delivering.....fake numbers and loop holes to write off money

Your manager fixes up a meeting , early morning or late evening hours (when very less number of employees are around) , with some non-convincing subject like 'Status review', 'HR discussions', etc.

These f---ing b--tards form Oracle HR, invite you into the room and ask you to leave in two hours.the effort and hard work put in will go on the vein.
