Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

I9 Emails

Did any of the cores receive the I-9 emails today and did they send two different ones. We all received I-9 letter today and there’s one they were sent to about 8 to 10 different people which has one person from each department which included the new hire packet ( which had personal information, I-9, W-2 and banking info) The rest of the core has to make an appointment with HCl next week for a I9 appointment at a offsite location .

Wondering on your theories

The closest I 9 office is 25 miles from our office. If HCL was really about putting the employee first, they would have a HR rep go to each core & scan/copy our passports or licenses. I understand why it has to be done, but why do they have to make it such a hassle? We called the place we have to go & were told it will literally only take 5 minutes. So on Monday I will spend 45 minutes driving to show some person that I am I US citizen & can work here leagally & another 45 min driving back to work. What a complete waste of time. Some of my re-badged co-workers didn’t even get the I 9 email yet. And none of us got a new hire packet. This entire process has been a total joke. Oh but we had Ed Bass tell us he knows how we feel & that he does appreciate our hard work all these years. Meaningless words that don’t help.

Yes we did, first email yesterday at 4:48pm stating we had 72 hours to complete the I9 confirmation which was in different locations closest to your home or work zip code. So 9 of us made the appointment throughout the City. Another email no it has to be done between April 1st - April 4th. This morning two more emails disregard a rep will be going onsite. Really we have work to do month end!!!!!

I9 form is a US federal government requirement based on the Immigration Reform and Control Act passed in 1986.

If you were hired before that date and stayed with your employer; the employer was exempt from having this on file. The auditor would see your hire date was previous to law being passed.

If you were hired by an employer after 11/6/1986 you must fill out I9 and the employer must have it on file if audited. Those that were hired at Xerox or subsidiary prior to 1986 did not have to fill this form out. If you left Xerox employment and are re-hired you need to fill this out because your hire date is now after 1986.

If Xerox HR had a completed I9 on file; they may have provided it to HCL.

If Xerox did not have I9 on file (or lost it); then you will need to complete one for HCL. There are 2 steps to the form. One you fill out; the 2nd is completed by the employer. To ensure the employer section is filled out properly and the proper verification documents are used; employers typically have a HR trained person doing the processing. So your being asked to go off site may be to meet with this trained person.
