Thread regarding Thomson Reuters layoffs

Not every termination is "30 mins to move out after you are informed."

Not every termination is "30 mins to move out after you are informed." I was in Tax & Accounting in Hoboken and most of the people whose positions were eliminated along with mine in November 2018 were given two weeks notice, minimum. Most were given more and a few were extended to Dec. 31. It may depend on the particular job or location but I didn't hear of anyone being escorted out the same day carrying a cardboard box.

The only time I've seen people asked to leave immediately are ones that are in positions with access and control over lan/wan or higher up finance/HR jobs. But they were still treated fairly. For example, if their end date for that layoff was, let's say, 3 months from now, they still received their paycheck as usual, they just got to stay home instead of come to work. I can't understand why anyone would be upset over that. It gives you extra freedom to start looking for a new job on your schedule and not around work hours.

Looks like TR is more humane.

My experience with other firms have been horrible, colleagues of 10 years asked to leave in 30 minutes without saying goodbyes. How could 'human' resources be so soulless? Seeing such things have made me cynical and not trust any company.
