Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

How much longer until the announcement?

JPM and Citi technology titans being hired and appointed to the BNY Mellon executive committee at lightening speed.

JPM allowing information of their mass layoff plan, especially in technologies, to be announced when they are notorious for keeping these things hushed.

BNY Mellon internal "restructuring" occurring quietly with org chart realignments. Likely preparing to easily eliminate entire business units when the time comes to pull the lever.

Process documentation has been slowly disappearing. Likely to be replaced by new company branded materials, new company processes.

BNY Mellon laying off at extreme rates and reposting the same positions...likely to hire in JPM or Citi employees.

It's only a matter of timing until the announcement. People keep saying it won't happen. It will. But it will happen with allot of businesses in both companies being eliminated as a first step.

The destruction of the Mellon brand, it’s top in class ranking for quality and the subsequent loss of premium pricing power is a major factor in the lack of organic growth. Industry surveys don’t lie.

In my experience as a Mellon employee, the company was definitely way under staffed in technology. We knew not to bother making requests for what should be simple changes because they just didn't have the resources to cover much more than conversions and other big projects.

That being said, the company was the industry leader in several businesses and was well respected.

3fxz, yes, that Bob Kelly character was a piece of work. As a legacy BNY employee, I have a sort of funny story about which was the 'worse' company.

About a year into the merger, I'm on a conference call about merging a particular application. The Mellon guy lamented that on his end it took six weeks to fill out a form and get anything done. I told him, with arrogant pride in my voice, that we at BNY were light years ahead of him ... the equivalent form only took 5 weeks to get processed.

2phq, I suspect you are from New York with an uneducated opinion about Mellon employees.

Sadly Canadian CEO Bob Kelly took a sh-- on a legacy and sold the company to one of the worst companies around.

Mellon was a great company with great employees. Great managers were pushed out the door or fled to get away from this mismanaged sh-- hole.
