I saved a bird that was stuck high up on a pole once.

I am a lineman for 28 years and I think 90% of us would have done the same thing .

The guy did a good thing, something that I'd like to think most people with a shred of humanity would do, he got a vacation and a GoFundMe payout, and VZ looks like the villain. Sounds like everything worked out exactly as it should and everyone got exactly what they deserved!

Everyone’s blaming the company or the union. Screw that, I blame the id--t recording and putting it on the internet. Jackass wants to be internet famous.

This worker got suspended 3 weeks BUT has gofundme donations of over 10000$.

He will be quite OK.

Where’s the IBEW or CWA? Lonnie and Chris should be out in front of this story.

Agree with @bsm. And @cab, if you are violating safety rules, whether at the behest of your boss or not, then you should be suspended too, along with the boss. Better than being dead.

I violate safety rules everyday. All day to give my boss 4 or 5 jobs a day. Verizon never suspends me. So it had nothing to do with safety. Nice try troll. Verizon worries about safety when they wont. No work. They follow you around. Declare a state of emergency. They dont care what you do just crush out jobs and keep moving

Won't make a bit of difference...and it should not. He was working above power and violating company safety policy. The press and the general public do not know or understand that fact. Again, we see where the mindless social media denizens have painted this guy as a 'hero' and the internet is attempting to garner social support for someone that violated safety policy. The standard for 'hero' continues to drop lower and lower in America. Getting a cat off a pole does not constitute hanging a 'hero' moniker onto someone.

Had he died or been injured during this event the same social medial denizens and the press would still paint him as a hero. Only difference then is OSHA, among other agencies would be hammering Verizon for the death or injury.

He earned his suspension.
