Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Smart Redesign

There are a lot of unknowns, this is why Hackett call it Smart Redesign. Ford has over 11,0000 agency and purchase employees. These employees make 1.5 to 2 times the average Ford GSR employees. Some cuts needs to starts here. Ford does have too many LL+ with less than 4 direct reports. These managers needs to be reassigned or retire. There are too much inefficiency within Ford, because Ford does not place the right people for the right job. Ford tends to throw as many people as they can to put out fire with their launches. These engineers and LL hires outside suppliers to tell them how to put out the fires and how to fix their problems. This has cost the company millions if not billions every year. Ford needs to weed out the underperform employees and those who are not value added. This includes salary and hourly employees. Smart, lean, and efficient will turn this company around.

Well said, @Ynb2fSy-1jmc.

ummmm, I think you are a bit off about the agency people. Ford pays that much per hour for agency but the employee gets about half that. Remember, $40/hr for a GSR is what the employee gets paid, it is not the cost to Ford, which is much higher (benefits, etc.)

The average GSR at FMC makes $35 to $40 per hour. Agency and Purchase service employees makes average $80 to over $100 per hour.

Here is the blueprint for SRD: https://www.bcg.com/en-us/publications/2016/people-organization-new-approach-organization-design.aspx

If it is so successful, why don't they ever name the companies by name and give more details on their turnaround story?
