Thread regarding Pioneer Natural Resources Co. layoffs

Useless Department/Groups - Innovation, DMO, and DevOps

To save the people that really provide a real ROI for Pioneer, the following groups should be eliminated or at the very least reduced in staff: Innovation, DMO, and Software Developers. The staffing on these group are made up of PhDs, data scientist and over-rated positions that haven't produced one single value back to the company. Bunch of hype and pompous assess walking around feeling like they provide a benefit to all. Pioneer did well before these groups started popping up in the company and now where are we now? Pioneer business is to get the oil out, not to develop software. When we lose focus on the core strategy of the business, you get this c-ap that we are in now.

Y’all are crazy if you think cuts to G&A will get PXD to their targets

Steps

1) reduce massively over bloated staff

2) reduce D&C by at least 30%

3) sell midstream assets

4) market PXD to Exxon, Shell etc

5) SS becomes even richer

The 15 people in the group cost the company over 10 million per year. So I'd say it would be savings. Especially after considering all the group does is bring in snake oil sales people to badger what technical staff we do have. And then pioneer's expense on said snake oil is in excess of the 10 million. That plus the steaks for 15 people.

Some truth to this, but if you don’t innovate, you get left behind. Blowing CAPEX two straight years is an example of how “doing things the old way” can land a company in a world of hurt instead of streamlining technology. What you said isn’t wrong entirely, but definitely a bit shortsighted. Plus, cutting an entire team of 15 people designed to find efficiencies neither helps the company get better at its core business nor does it dent the needed G&A cuts.
