Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

We are much slower at work after the layoffs

I’m a yard worker and my location was hit pretty hard by layoffs. After that I’ve noticed that it is impossible to keep the same pace of work with a lowered headcount. Fixes take almost double the time to complete and work just keeps piling up. It that the case at other locations as well, and can work at this slower tempo something that can directly hurt the company?

Just do your jobs brothers and sisters. Don’t let them intimidate you into doing something unsafe or letting a defect go. Our jobs are safety !!

That's why UP is leasing a bunch of foreign units to pull trains. Lay off mechanical employees and not have to worry about running their equipment into the ground. Vena must be getting quite a kickback from CN because I see a lot of their units on trains now.

Don’t worry about it, just do your job the way it’s supposed to be done. Let the management at your location worry about how and when it gets done
