Anyone hear anything?
Rumour going that reorganization will result in managers overseeing around 25 people.
Fewer managers, less payroll.

exceed 5 people? I don't what research this is...but it can't be over a bunch of salary people who should be able to work independently....hell, many group have people more senior and experience than their managers
Again, Honeywell ignores all research about span of control that shows that everything gets worse as span of control begins to exceed 5.
All the Aero directors and above are involved in a contest to show who can provide the best cooked metrics at the expense of the employees. All of this is to position their respective team leaders to be the next Aero president when T The Phony cashes in his chips. If this guy believes so much in HON, then why has he sold $100M (!) in stock over the past decade? My money's on ISC's Madman to take the throne, as he's shown the most psychopathic enthusiasm for driving out employees who question the Kings wardrobe.
I'm a T5 manager at a Phoenix site. My T4 manager (who only has 3 T5 managers) said that "span of control" is changing again and we each need to have a bigger group, 18 - 20 (I'm at 10 now). Not sure which of us won't be a manager at the end of this. To respond to the OP's question, I'm not hearing about a reorg, just bigger groups for T5s.
Right now I spend at least 10 hours per person, twice a year, helping them with their HPD write ups so that none of my people end up in the elbow. So that alone will add about 2 weeks to my my work load this year. So the good news is this should really help with my own EEI, if I "get" to be a manager. And my apologies for whining about my problems, I know it is worse for the people who are going to be in large groups where it is difficult to get management support.
Well, there was a management survey that went out where everyone had to rate their manager. This could either be the cause of the rumor, or proof of it.
We don't need most at Director and above. All they do is "push it down" check their stocks and collect big pay. Individual contributer do all work AND decision making. Bosses just get emails, click button, pass it on and start pushing. Little if any discussion. Not sure any of them really knows what goes on.
@2srx, I take it further, it is not only Directors, but VPs, Senior Directors (which adds yet another level). There are multiple occurrences of VP reporting to VP, etc. Bottom line...too d@#n much sr mgmt! These guys are killing us.
It is Directors that are the problem not mgrs. I come across directors all the time with huge variation in number of reports. This includes the HTS orgs.
How many people think we have too many managers? There are tons without any people under them
I continue to hear this rumor. T5 mgrs are individual contributors anyway so it would not be much change. I am expecting more manager bashing in one to two weeks. You would have to be insane to apply for a mgr job. Cant wait until I see a new grad as a manager. Putting the IT guy as CTO tells you how far this company has gone. I give it 5 years until we become the perfect Picture of eastern productivity... by which I mean a call center.
