Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Less employees, les trains, less money

I can’t see any benefit in this restructuring. I thought they had at least some plan on how to operate with a lesser workforce, but chances are that it all comes down to the “do more with less” talk. I work at a position from which I can monitor how many orders of freight are transported and I have to say that I’ve seen first hand that we are having trouble dealing with the amount of business that we have. I really can’t see a way how UP can grow in those conditions. Has anyone else seen the same symptoms?

Why are you looking at anything but the stock price and operating ratio. Anything else is irrelevant unless it is a path to improve either one.
