Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Would you leave even for less money?

Reading posts here it becomes very clear there are a lot of people currently working at Verizon who are utterly unhappy with their work environment - and I'm not just talking about constant layoffs, but everything else.

I'm wondering, are we now at a point where people would be happy to accept jobs that come with less pay (10, 20, 30 percent) somewhere else just to get out of here?

@2tvz - Yeah this guy is for real.

What has replaced it? For now, enter the MVNO...cheaper with less overhead while using the same network. AKA Google Fi, Mint Mobile, Xfinity Mobile, Republic Wireless...etc, etc, etc.

The race to the bottom is on dooshbag. Go look up commoditization. You must work in retail with a comment like that.

I'd surely take a 10 or 20 percent cut to have a life!!! Zero work life balance right now.

"telco is on a death spiral "

Is this guy for real? So what has replaced it that we do not collect money on? The Internet? Streaming video? Wireless?

People like communicating with each other and don't mind paying well to do so. Telcos get paid to make that happen.

Telcos who have not adapted their products, workforce and business model to meet the customers' new communications needs are in a death spiral, but that is OK. That is how the market works.

I did. Had to change careers after getting laid off and telco is on a death spiral so no future in this industry. Took a large pay cut initally, but after a couple years and a couple raises I am back to VZ money level.

Not Spamming the board stating the truth. I know they could not replace the skill set i brought to my location.

90% of the posts here are done by 10% of the posters, and I'd wager that those few people probably don't work at VZ, maybe don't even have jobs at all, and if they do work for VZ, they are at the very bottom of the food chain.

Black Truck - Stop spamming the board. glad it worked out for you, but we lost a lot of talent not easily replaced. 25 + yrs here in sales, been a good ride but not sure I will make 30. Everyone should have a plan B and the savings to help get there.

Many that I spoke to that took the VSP are not retiring and realize there was a risk of earning less in a new job. Even so they left Verizon.
