Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

We’re stuck in our ways and continuing to do things that don’t help us make money

I’ve heard it several times - “Be lucky you have a job in this retail environment...” What they don’t realize is that brick and mortar retail is evolving and BBB isn’t. We’re stuck in our ways and continuing to do things that don’t help us make money.

Think about this fact - if our greedy CEO took a $2 million pay cut and that money was put into 1,000 stores, each store would have an additional $2,000 in payroll to use. What could your store do with an additional $2,000 in payroll? How many extra hours would that contribute for bridal, zoning, freight putaway, etc? The Company is being robbed by ST and no one is willing to do a single thing about it; instead, the stores are left chasing there tails and trying to do a million things and learn new initiatives while working on extremely limited payroll budgets. All the new initiatives that are rolled out are always done so clumsily and they are supposed to make things easier when in fact, they add more to the ever growing to-do list.

A Company has to spend money to make money, and although payroll is the most controllable expense, it’s also the most valuable. We’re no different than Amazon these days. How many complaints is your store getting about lack of assistance on the sales floor? You also know that we’re getting robbed blind by the thieves without anyone visible to the shoplifters. DP and the other RVPs should be making this evident to ST and demanding change, but they’re too comfortable, knowing that nothing at the store level affects them.

The OP ( @YqSe6WA-1una ) hit the nail on the head with this post.

no, but unless you are going to take 2 million a year from him, your math doesnt work. its still a measly 3 hiurs a week per store. typical poster on here, blinded by facts and simple math.

That’s $2000 per store. I don’t know if anyone making $520/hr...

valid concerns but the whole basis of your argument is off. For the record, 2,000 dollars in payroll will account for an additional 3.84 hours PER WEEK....hardly a solution.

BBB will need less people in the future based off recent trends so my suggestion would be to trim the dead weight within the stores and get people that enjoy their jobs. Where I work, I see many associates just standing around being unproductive making the rest of our jobs even harder.
