I was talking with several high ranking officials and heard this disturbing info. UP is phasing itself out of freight car repair. It seems like it will be completely streamed lined. Car owners/customers can call to check on status of cars, whether in route or bad ordered. These calls will be outsourced to Call centers in India. They can get status updates on these cars. They will give car owners a list of repair contractors in the area and they can choose which of these qualified repair companies to use if the car is not longer road worthy. Meanwhile they are working to get unlimited mileage waver thru FRA, to eliminate the requirement of inspection all together. If a customer car derails it will be sc-apped out on site and be up to customer to pick up the remaining product on line of road. Just as the Utah incident has proved, derailed hazmat cars will be destroyed by controlled detonation at derailment site. This worked perfectly 2 weeks ago. And has set precedents for future issues involving these types of commodities.
