The goal is to push the limits of how bare bones the clubs can operate. Audit team elimination was a drastic move, now leads do most of the audits while running their area, given the leads more responsibilities to Own Your Inventory. Once Daylight Stocking was test marketed, the reorganization of Receiving and Claims(Backroom) was green lighted, knowing that company-wide elimination of Overnight Stocking was going to happen. Workday was introduced, and after determining that having Workday handle most of the PTC’s responsibilities would create, at the very least, a consistent model nationwide, the decision to eliminate the PTC position was made. Go log on to the Drudge Report today and read the article about the “Retail Apocalypse - Analysts say 75,000 stores are doomed...” to see that retail as we know it, is over, and we should all be thankful that being part of the Walmart\Sam’s Club corporation continues to allow us to have a good job and provide for our families. 5 years ago we had no system in place to know where product was racked in the steel, or exactly where it was on the sales floor. Now with a handheld we know how many pallets we have, where the extra pallets are binned, and what locations on the floor the items are out for sale at. 3 years ago, we would print a No Movement Report and take a pencil and check off each item to make sure it was out for sale, not knowing where it was racked in the steel, or where it was on the sales floor. Now with Own Your Inventory, a picture of the item, with information such as where it is located inn the floor, when it was last sold, and the price instantly show up on our handhelds.
We have a lot of exciting things going on in the clubs, and while I am not naive to think everything is great, we have to acknowledge that the company is trying to carve a future out of the mix between brick and mortar stores and internet sales. Maybe the company that we all worked for had changed and you no longer want to be part of it, that’s fine, explore other options. For my fellow associates that remain, let’s embrace change and find a way to flourish in the new technology-heavy retail field. I am surrounded by many people who care about doing a good job and providing for their families, vent your frustrations, and then find a way to make a difference by positively embracing our current programs.
Well said @YuZBw4R-2bvy
