Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

What Was The Hit To WIlsonville?

I got out a few years ago. So happy after 30 yrs. But keep thinking about the Tektronix / WIlsonville Group that had it right, then mother Xerox messed it up.... like all prior acquisitions. Are the WIlsonville folks around still... or gone to HCL?

There's lots of empty space in Wilsonville, but it never closed. A few years ago, Xerox sold most of the on-campus buildings, except for bldg 63. Then they leased the still-occupied space from the new owner.

Because the lease expires later this year, locations in building 63 are being found for Xerox workers who are still in building 60. People being moved include Xerox employees and the outsourced employees who still do work for Xerox. One of the groups being moved includes the 2nd level escalated h/w and s/w support employees who were just transitioned to HCL.

Wilsonville is still going. Nearly all groups have been consolidated into Building 63, with like maybe <10 people still in Building 60. Printhead came out with a new product last year which is starting to pick up some steam. Ink shrunk to a single shift, and demand is dropping.

I went to Wilsonville last summer. The main building is forlornly empty. Think of building 0111 in Webster, but with maybe 100 people concentrated in one end of the building. There are skeleton groups there - I think one such group tests printers and there is a small MIS group maintaining legacy systems, and a couple of others. There are hundreds of empty cubes along with unused labs and meeting rooms and tons of equipment collecting dust. In the grand scheme of things, it makes no sense to keep the lights on there. Not sure what will happen to these folks, but if HCL comes in - they would probably butcher the place and close it down. Really nice folks there. I wish them Godspeed if the manure hits the fan.

I think they closed down Wilsonville a few years ago.
