Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Block scheduling means I can’t work

Don’t want anyone to feel sorry for me or anything like that, but I imagine that the schedule changes affected more folks in the way It affected me. I had to quit, given that I have a specific situation at home that prevents me from being able to work in the new schedule. My situation can’t be put under a medical condition so I have no grounds to request any form of special treatment. Instead of using the best from a hard worker they have made an environment in which I had to seek my fortunes elsewhere.

Correct just like it was posted earlier ITT once the Attendance Bonus Program is rolled out for the Sam’s Club division. Only the WMT side has the incentive program currently.

Just so you Sams folks know. The 500 bonus for 0 attendance is only on the Walmart side. We asked our CM. He said no bonus for attendance. Just quarterly bonuses.

OP sorry to hear you had to quit, everyone who works retail knows it is a hard life sometimes.

I’ve been with the company a long time, when I first started people that were hired a couple years before me made time and a half when they worked Sundays. I think I was getting an extra dollar an hour to work Sundays, and I was jealous of the others that made 1 1/2 times.

Now I have nearly 300 hours a year of paid time off, I make over $20 an hour and I have a healthy 6 digit 401k account that will pay me $30,000 a year from age 65 to age 80 if I am blessed to live that long. I receive a bonus of at least $1200 a year, and one year it was

$2700. The new quarterly bonus once the zero attendance occurrences program rolls out will probably earn me $500 every 3 months. There has never been a year that I did not receive a raise, and I have the ability to move to a warmer climate as I approach my retirement years by having the ability to transfer to one of the 12 company facilities that are located in a 25 mile radius of the town I will make my home in my golden years.

My career has been full of up and downs, but I learned that if someone asks you to do something, do it as soon as possible, finish it as soon as possible, and report back to the person who asked you to do it that the task was done. I try to not dwell on things that I have no control over, and most every member of management would listen to my concerns, but then it was time to do the job that they ask of you. If you are dependable, try hard and admit when you make a mistake, the respect that your fellow associates and managers will show you makes it worth it.

Bad managers usually have short careers from my experiences, I try to have the mindset that I was here before the bad manager came here, and I will still be here long after the bad manager flames out.

Again, don’t sweat the small stuff, don’t worry about what you can’t control, give 💯 to everything you CAN CONTROL.

Peace and love, peace and love!

It is a blessing in disguise! Hard to see now but apply for unemployment while you make your choice on where you want to go. Anyone who had a good work ethic and a brain has found leaving a company like this they should have done it sooner. Brain washed to think you won't find something better or even, God forbid, you find your own self worth again.

Consider it a blessing in disguise. While you're at it, look beyond retail. Most people who do, have found better happiness. Good luck!!

You're probably better off. Sam's is no longer a good place to work.
