Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

INFY people will work from VZ Locations for now

Our short sighted and incompetent leaders have given up on resolving the security issues and ultimately have ordered Verizon Laptops for INFY new hires. The decisions to replace fulltime people with inexperienced INFY people were made for that short term dollar profits but now it is going to cost company even more to support the INFY people with real estate and hardware expenses. The fued between the IT leaders and Verizon Security team has gone unresolved and will cost verizon significantly in terms of Dollars and potential Risk jeopardizing customer data. The new VZ laptops that is being distributed to INFY can be used from anywhere in the world. They do not need to be in Verizon location to access verizon data. Those non verizon employees can access verizon data and systems from anywhere with that VZ Laptop.

Those IT leaders keep on drawing big salary and bonuses from the shareholders even after making one bad decision after another. They have no shame, no ownership, and no brains. This is really some scary and sad times for everyone working there.

A criminal can easily use phone, names, addresses, and passwords from vz to hack into some other serious things.

It is a duty of vz to protect customer data.

"Nobody gives a cr-p about phone numbers, addresses and names.."

Sounds like you're ready for that promotion to Director in IT...

tl;dr - those names,addresses, phone number aren't free downloads...

Nobody gives a cr-p about phone numbers, addresses and names that can be found just as easily on google maps. Verizon is just setting their IT support up for failure with nonsense practices. The people who were disgruntled left via the vsp.

My guess is that by now everything of interest has already been s---ed out to China/Russia/India and fed into their search engines that Goog/Alphabet was kind of enough to supply them. Every lat/long, parameter, model, version, serial #, subscriber, ... - foreign intelligence agents must be working overtime trying to digest it all. We haven't had the 9/11 of cyber attack yet, but when we do, the gapping security holes and lack of resources/attention/care devoted to closing them will become readily apparent.. Who remembers before 9/11 when anyone could just walk up to boarding gates and hang out ? Currently we're in the same place regarding InfoSec...

It seems like the jargons from "Code of Ethics", "Data Privacy", "Data Protection", and "government Regulations" are just for the show at VZ. Those silly verbiage in those codes are for peons and ordinary employees to follow but the Leadership Team does not need to follow it.

It is sort of like saying " You cant beat my little brother but i can "

They are cheating VZ employees, Government, and the Consumers by letting them have VZ laptops with full access. They have a verbiage of INFY people accessing VZ data from secured verizon site only but as someone said below we are hearing crying babies and whisteling of cooking in the backgrounds. Lets just hope those babies were crying in the USA and they were also cooking in the USA and if they are not there is nothing that stops them from doing that.

The incompetent IT management team pretends like no one will notice their incompetence but its out there like a big warning for all the employees and the shareholders. If this news comes to mainstream media like CNBC or something, it will not be good for vz share price.

Interesting thread, but Infy is about transferring liability, which is why all apps must ultimately go regardless of common sense or data. Legal will figure out that part for the IT exec's. The rest of the process (eg vz security objections) is there for show and external audit purposes. Exec's never cared about ethics of the deal, just bonuses, publicity/blowback and dumping that work

These security restrictions are a joke. Whenever they get to a deadline they will find a way to give permission. Everyone knows that outsourcing has to be done one way or the other

IT Leadership, Shankar and Vivek both need to resign effective immediately. Or force them both to resign.

My app has to be maintained on premise because of sensitive data per legal. I believe they have receive temporary approval to have Infosys contractors take over as long as they are on premise and have VZ equipment. During my knowledge transfer (over webex) my replacements said they were in a VZ facilities only to hear babies crying in the background. At the end of the webex I found out they were not in VZ facilities and were not using VZ equipment. Who do I contact because I do not trust my incompetent management team?

They are just going to tell the government and their consumers that their data is "safe" by giving full system access to non employees. Sounds like a huge class action lawsuit coming their way.

The VSPers have already agreed to never come back as employees, setting up the company to have an excuse for bringing in indentured servants on a visa instead of hiring someone domestic.

They will not bring employees back - except as contractors. No matter what.

This whole thing was planned poorly and the IT leadership should be fired.

Instead, they'll get a bigger bonus and stock options next year.
