Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Merger Severance??!

When companies merge many times there is a generous severance package for anyone who loses their job. I wonder how good the CVX package will be. Could be a perfect time to bail out.

I remember the Texaco merger when Texaco triggered the "poison pill" severance of 2 years pay for their employees and then Chevron matched that deal for the Chevron employees. And it was available for any employee to volunteer for it. I knew a few employees who took the deal and left. Chevron actually lost too many employees in that merger.

But as -lgo says, this is an acquisition not a merger. But you can always get your hopes up.

Wirth suggests 1-2 billion annual operations saving combining companies... which means layoffs! Probably Anadarko folks should be more worried than those at Chevron, but if you are looking for a golden parachute this will likely be the only potential opportunity for the foreseeable future. That said I expect the opportunities to get an extra prize for timely exit will be localized and job specific. That said, there is already redundancies in Chevron middle management and Anadarko headquarters staff it likely to be hit big if they are not fast learners of the Chevron way.
