In GBS there is plenty of people outside smoking for hours each day so I agree it's needed.
I know of at least 100 offshore staff in my branch of GBS who haven’t been billable in over a year. So yes, this is warranted.
The Philippines grows bananas too .. so they must be less expensive the Brazilian bananas.
These days, IBM only has "one banana problems" ... and we are rapidly heading toward having zero bananas to get anything done.
there are more coming...rolling out across divisions between now and end of june. No one is safe, even the 'strategic imperatives' will be hit.
India is getting too competitive and too expensive.
1qdc The jobs will be moved to the Philippines Cheaper then India , Brazil.....
Moving jobs from India to a banana nation like Brazil.
IBM needs to cut at least 100K people to start to be competitive. So it has ways to go...
Cuts in Watson for sure. Has never been profitable by any financial measure.
Mz1. So what parts of GTS NA will go? GTS moved almost everything that can be moved to India, so the question remains. What parts of GTS NA. Be specific as GTS is pretty big

In India... finally... but only 300 is not enough, it should be 10K+.
I would like to know what is the profile of the people who has been affected... Lets say OS-Admin (WIN,RHEL,AIX) ... DB-Admin (ORA-HANA-DB2)... ?
So what will happen to their functions... Are they going to move those functions to a banana nation? I know the banana nations are cheaper than US...
Now I recall the VICE:HBO Future of Work documentary ... People will loose their jobs ...
