Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

More layoffs?

They are laying off a lot of HR recruiters. That is the rumor over here. Heard it from the top.

Is this really happening? Can anybody confirm?

Well, if you heard it from the top, wouldn’t it be true then?

I didn't even know HR existed anymore. Everything is online or outsourced. I literally do NOT see the use of HR Dept.

If the entire HR dept is sacked, it will be a step forward for all. Sorry, but I have never come across a more unethical lot, than the HR team who dealt with my leaving process.

BNYM recruiters are liars. They should be investigated for their business practices.

Yup, I heard the same. Some HR and recruiters are not needed since they are hiring far less people nowadays. If you're a recruiter, I'd start looking and then you will also know know what it feels like to get lied to and strung along for months only to find out the position you applied for and was hopeful to be hired for was never going to be filled. Its a fluff job that can be outsourced when the need recruiting resources. S---s to be a recruiter at BNYM.

I can say with certainty that my Pittsburgh business line is safe.

How do I know this?

Because I am just not lucky enough to be laid off. I am sure my lack of good luck is the result of some bad past deed.

Anyone that has had any interaction with ANY of the company recruiters can attest that layoffs in that department will be of no loss to the company regardless of the location.

Now that is a department that should be investigated for ethics violations. Some know and choose to break the rules (laws), but sadly most just don't have the proper training.

Rumor is they need less recruiters in Pgh because they are eliminating entire business lines / jobs to fill in Pgh. Charlie is making this a NY based company.
