There will be lay-offs in the future.
You heard it first here.

No, 3jTas, I survived the Alpha ROM just a few years ago in Houston. It took them 8 months from the announcement in March till the left standing phase in Oct. The management was criticized for dragging it on so long. Alas, given the CEO reputation from the Accelerate Downstream days, I highly doubt it will take till Q3 to see the heads roll.

Q12020 is not glacial, it is lightning fast. You must be an outsider. Here's a clue - 3Q2020 at the very earliest.

Oh, and as we saw a few weeks ago, Exploration was cut 30%.

No worries, it is coming at Chevron's glacier pace! My bet is on Q1 2020.

Yea, me too, 3Huub, I wonder when all these layoffs are coming, so accurately predicted by these doom and gloom conspiracy theorists, lol. Don't seem to be materializing anytime soon, at least not in my department. But again, I am not one to be worried about getting laid off. Maybe it's because I'm not a slacker like so many who frequent this site, I don't know. Anyway, life is good, pay is good, benefits are good, best of luck to all in the new year!

No, 3Huub, you are a regular smart@ss. Hopefully you are already retired or were laid off. No worries for you, right? But if you’re still employed with Chevron and also would like to keep your job, don’t tempt Murphy. Yeah, the one who wrote that same law.

When are the layoffs? Apparently not this year, like many folks "predicted" I guess if you make a general vague prediction of a routine event, sure, eventually it will play out. I predict the Dow reaching above 30,000. Yea, folks, you heard it first here! I'm a regular Nostradamus.

"solid tip", yea, I think "predicted 25 of the last 2 lay-off's calls" put it most accurately, I couldn't have said it better myself - Kudos!

It is certainly true that management has been clearly and consistently signaling these changes as the OP notes. Not rumors - statements. Employees sometimes don’t want to hear or hope if they keep their head in the sand they will be safe.

I agree with the guy who said a broken clock is correct twice a day. there's nothing in the OP's post that you don't hear year round, day in, day out. also, no one is getting laid off, at least not in my group yawn.......

I agree - OP nailed this one.

you triggered bro? lmao at "hinted at change" yea, that's a good one.
The OP's suggestion wasn't even close, and missed it by a long shot, as well as being way less accurate than 100% of the other off the wall rumors that propagate this site year round, 24-7-365. A broken clock, which is right twice a day, is more correct than this pathetic mindless speculation that occurs in every setting twice a quarter, at least.
You know you are wrong which is why you resorted to juvenile name calling, all that you have....
How's it feel to lose?

This is a layoff site; by nature it will contain a generous amount of speculation. If you are looking for 100% truth and only facts please seek your information elsewhere. The OP's suggestion was on the mark and posted 8 months ago. It was pure speculation; he states MW hinted at change. Now we know what changes he was referring to. F'n weasel.

3Fxvl, No, not at all, just deal with the truth and the facts only, sorry if reality disturbs you. And that chance would be exactly 0%. Yes, Exactly Zero. Carry on.

3Fjni, you sound like the typical contrarian and constant denier. You think everyone is a wrong or trying to pull on over on you. Be careful you don’t get swept up in this latest reorganization and headcount reduction. Your chances are as good as anyone’s.

No, not at all. This is one of the "predicted 25 of the last 2 lay-off's" calls. So routinely off the mark that it's hilarious. In any event, Thanks for the morning laugh!

That’s appropriate @blwl. After all PRC stands for Pre-Retirement Class.

They are hiring folks right now not laying off. Possible that PRC folks may be let go but BUs are running lean.

tlx, so MW should have acquired APC just so Chevron folks didn't have to get laid off? Not a shame that it didn't happen. The shame is that when companies start to perform poorly it's the workers who pay the price for it, not the officers.

It’s too bad that MW didn’t pull the trigger on APC... which he should have. But he is too busy posturing about “discipline “ spending. It would have been the Anadarko employees laid-off. Now it looks like with no merger and a reorganization it will be Chevron folks laid-off. That’s a shame.

Chevron management can't hide the pain and further shame of continuing layoffs within the context of a larger merged company. The APC takeover had that one benefit. Chevron will now have to continue with corporate refinements by its lonesome. The oil price has been just sc-aping above the $60-65/bbl that the newly adjusted company was premised on.
