Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Work from home

What is the aero policy for this now? There are some people who have a "desk" or "office" at a site and their address in outlook is at the site but they only come into the site less than 5 days a month. Is that ok??? I recently took a new role where i don not work with anyone at my site and wonder if i could do the same thing. I can't chance losing my job and do not want to violate anything but this would make my life easier if i could work some days remotely. Should i make my case with HR?

I worked from home for 7 of the last 33 years that i worked at Honeywell. I now work from the office and drive in daily. I call my boss and I hear dogs barking, i talk to my co-workers on skype and hear dogs, cats, the lawn man, the door bell ringing. I even had my boss tell me that XXXX was in the office when i had just talked to him at his house. My co-workers in my area i see briefly once ever three weeks. If they are gathering up data, they sure are taking their sweet time about it. I still think it is a wink wink with buddies.

No enforcement any more but it's probably a trap. Tons of people at my site never come in. I think they are just gathering evidence for a mass firing

The policy is still out there. Everyday you must be in the office!

I left Honeywell recently but before that I used WFH for the free overtime they demanded. I think they realized that people who meet with the offshore labor force weren't going to attend meetings in the middle of the night if they had to drive in to the office so they quietly backed off.

I will say this about full time WFH employees: when my boss dropped the hammer on the two WFH employees we had who were never available on Lync or by phone during normal business hours productivity in the group improved dramatically after they got butthurt and quit.

There is no more WFH and employees have been fired for it. Some decent managers are using a don't ask don't tell policy for their teams.

I work from home a lot and intend to do that even more. They can fire me anytime they decide they don't need my services anymore. If I don't walk out on their greedy asses first.

At least the WFH folks are able to easily come in to work when needed. I am dealing with BOZO's in other states and countries on a development project. It is a total cluster. There is no way projects like this can be efficiently run like this.

The policy posted to Honeywell’s internal web site is NO WORK FROM HOME! I personally never go into the office which means I could be terminated whenever the mother ship decides to outsource my role to a low cost country which I would celebrate with a good bottle of champagne.

The rules are all over the place. I’ve seen high ranking employees only come in 1-2 days a week, and the rest WFH.
