I am a current worker at BNY Mellon (been here over 5 years). To those thinking of coming to work here, my advice to you is to avoid at all cost. The atmosphere is toxic. The staff I work with and myself sit by our phones waiting for the call that they are letting us go (most of us hope that is the case). There's no growth here whatsoever. Managers are delusional, ineffective, and only care about looking like they are fully engaged in front of Executives. The salaries are horrible and forget about raises or bonuses. The working conditions is completely open space, so you get to hear your coworkers personal calls all day and be surrounded by the constant germs people spread each and every day. Trust me. Do yourself a huge favor and don't subject yourself to such misery. While I hope I make the list to be laid off, I am not resting on that and searching vigorously to get out of this joke of a company.

Uh... that open space is at every place I’ve looked so far. I wonder if this - and the associated problems - could now be industry standard.
My experience at BNY Mellon was waiting to get laid off for the 7 years I was with the firm as there were frequent reorgs and intermittent layoffs.
I just started at BNYM. I love it. Fat paycheck and boss is MIA most of the time. I take a two/three hour lunch and hit the gym every day. I’m sticking in to the man.
All companies are using open space nowadays. It costs less, you can squeeze more people into the space and easier to babysit the whiners.
Be careful what you wish for. The economy s---s and jobs are few. I’d rather a sh--ty job than no paycheck. Btw, I just accepted a job as a VP, I’ll be managing a group of 8.
My gosh, you sound bitter. Grow up. Layoffs are part of life. Everyone gets laid off at one time or another.
I’m praying for you. I truly hope you find a way out. It’s such a sad commentary. BNY Mellon should be ashamed to have allowed such misery to permeate a once decent company.
