Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

We will all get cut in one way or another

Call me pessimistic, but I think that we will all turn out to be victims of this process in the end. Weather we’ll get laid off, furloughed, or maybe we will get overworked to the breaking point, which will make us leave on our own. All and oll there is no good scenario for the UP workers in the following years. As scary as it sounds, leaving is the best option on the table.

Nobody can honestly say theyre happy, sleep at night, confident in a long fruitful career.

And if you can, just thank your dad for the job.

UP is a joke now, I applaud the ones that are still there, however they still have to worry if one day they will just step in and say, (well here's your letter, good luck). Time and time throughout America companies have tried new things, they work at first but fail later. I hope they succeed so all America knows how greedy this company is and what they are willing to do to get it. Get it now if you can, they don't give a F%$K about you or your family.

Retired from the SP. LOL Where is the SP now? I don’t see them around. Maybe PSR would have saved them.

I used to worry. It anymore. If it happens it happens. Worrying ain’t gone help, I have changed lifestyles and now have enough money saved so it ain’t a big deal if I get furloughed

This is a Company that wants to create a atmosphere of stability, they have done the less. I got my letter it wasn't a surprise, so I did have a plan. They are now placing profits first, safety second. They will show a profit for a bit, but it will begin to drop. I do know the ones that wanted to implement PSR up somewhere in that glass tower downtown should open up the window in there office, and they know what to do from there.

yeah it's just a job. don't believe the hype about it being a family. if you asked the top 3 executives to name the people that have died or been seriously injured in the last few years at UP they couldn't. If you had a family member that died would you remember?

it's just a job. don't look at it as a long term career. it isn't that anymore if it ever was. work at UP as long as you want to or leave when you want to. you don't owe them anything. you are just a number to them. if you find something better then get the Hell out.

But in the meantime don't get all philosophical thinking about the meaning of life and working at UP. It isn't worth it. Worry about the important things in life and UP isn't one of those.
