I would hazard a good guess that Bridgend Engine Plant in South Wales, UK is due to close probably within the next 18 months. We were told last week that volume for the new Dragon engine, of which we have just 125k installed capacity (which is paltry considering we were producing around 800k engines at our peak) is now down to around 70k - 80k from next year. They won’t confirm it just yet, but there’s no way they’re keeping our plant open on such small volume. We’re currently making V6 and V8 engines for JLR which is scheduled to end September 2020. Once that goes we’ll only have Sigma (which is also coming to an end as they’re already knocking out service engines) and Dragon. They won’t even do the decent thing and give us a heads up so we can start putting our lives in order. I used to be proud to work for FMC but not anymore. They’re an absolute disgrace. Morals of an alley cat.
