How do other banks view ex employees off custody banks? Do they even took us seriously at all? I have an ex colleague who has a hard time finding a job after BNYM. Is that just his bad luck, the tough market, or do other corporations look down on us?

Both state street and BNYM are sh--ty places to work. And no, real banks are not impressed.

If his proofreading skills are similar to yours, where he used to work is not what is holding him back.
From my experience, other banks do look down at BNY Mellon experience, other companies - don't.
