Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Fresh Schedule

I don’t know about you guys but i think meat lead and bakery lead should be here in the mornings. If they have 2 days closing plus their 2 days off how are they supposed to stay on top of the ordering and production throughout the week. I mean i guess they can leave notes for other leads to place their orders and follow up but i thought that this whole change was to better the way we run the business. I mean unless the managers plan on actually taking responsibility for those areas as well. I mean as soon as something is missing or production isnt enough it automatically falls on the lead which isnt right if you’re not setting the leads up for success. What do you guys think?

Any meat guy that thinks being off two Sundays and a Saturday every four weeks is good for his dept needs to work in grocery.

At our club fresh leads work as a team if one person is not here we order for that department. Get over yourselves meat and bakery leads if train properly I could ice cakes and cut meat. I know you did not get a college degree in cutting meat and decorating cakes and cupcakes.

I bet you were perfectly fine with prepared foods lead and produce lead closing every day.

Fresh team leads job is so easy even a caveman can do it. Seriously closing a few days a week will be good for them. See what the slackers do at night and actually help a little.

@vvp fire off an email to the site admin if you are somehow being burdened by non lay-off topics and conversation. Since ad revenue is generated by site traffic, the owner of this site surely understands that other discussions only help traffic. Go ahead and only allow lay-off topics and poster and you will see a big decline in traffic, and a massive reduction in total posts made. Google is just a search engine, how dare they get involved with pictures and maps!! 🙄🙄🙄

Yes, why don’t we just close the meat department the other 50 hours that the club is open, but the meat lead is not on the clock 🙄

Gotta love all the posters that only have the “shut up home office” response to the truth about a situation is posted. Kudos to the lead who has delegated responsibility to other associates. No, instead we will hate on him for actually caring about his department and his associates. God forbid something would happen to this lead, death in family, personal illness/accident etc that would leave others to handle some of his responsibilities. One could argue that it is disrespectful to his associates to not teach them what needs done and instead leave them clueless trying to work in a department that no one knows how to order supplies or product for. Instead, just let his associates explain to all the angry members that Joe’s wife passed away and no one else knows how to order extra pork ribs. Tim’s dad need 24 hour care for a couple weeks, so we don’t have any foam trays to put the 90% ground beef on.

Take a good, hard look at yourself if you have become so bitter at any company or even person in your life that you no longer have pride in yourself to do the best you can, no matter what outside influences affect you. I will take all the harassment and being made fun of for being a company man/butt kiss than having people refer to me as lazy and uncaring.

The guy talking about team building and leadership skills sounds like he wears a sweater vest to work and gets on his knees often. Lol

As a meat lead, I was very upset that with the original block schedule that I never closed. How can you successfully build a strong team if you don't get to personally work with each shift? I didn't want another lead, that has never worked in the meat department, to train someone on the proper procedures to close down the department. Let alone to hold my associates accountable when necessary. That is my job. Also, as a lead you should have your team strong enough to delegate tasks to. My opening cutters are responsible for orders, I have 1 associate who I have succession planned with to take my role if or when necessary. And all 3 of my cutters can place bunzl. Who does this all for you when you are on vacation or simply a scheduled day off? Team building and leadership skills are necessary in your role.
