News about Hiring freeze turned out to be true, I am worried about layoffs if it's bound to happen, how much time do I have before the announcement?
It is bit easier in the job market to negotiate a deal with job at hand.

chuck seems steering the ship into a hotch potch of acquired software cos whose principals leave after they vest, then a leftover b-crew maintains them along with a c-crew in bangalore until like a locust he loses interest and moves on to feast on the next field of sw crops.
no real interest or investment into fresh hardware.
I bet he dreams of acquiring salesforce.
any well run software company should be able to run rings around this wooly mammoth.
as for hardware centric groups like service provider, their death spiral started half a decade ago. i would atleast discard the "C" and "show platform cef trace all all" triaging skills , find out whats marketable and put in lot of hours into polishing those. its the worst BU - from top to bottom rats of all stripes.
life after cisco is a lot more efficient and meaningful.
Does anyone have info on specific groups? So many rumours.
To Cisco Old Timer. Did you ask HR or your manager to give you a Layoff package ? Am curious what incentive cisco would have to pay out a package if you are going to retire. Great idea if it works !
I like it here at Cisco. My job is so damn easy, I put in only 3 hours per day while working from home. I go to the office twice a month. Why would any sane person not like a job like that? As they say, It ain't over till the fat lady sings.
@9zmz: Your friends are not getting comp and benefits fair enough to justify constantly living on the edge of the next LR. It’s called Stockholm Syndrome.
"It's really interesting to talk to friends who are at Cisco. They are constantly, and mean constantly, referencing these quarterly/annual layoffs and the stress it produces to be "visible" and play politics. It seems to create such a tremendous unproductive overhead on the daily activities that should be focused on customers and prospects. I hope they are getting fair comp and benefits to make up for it. They must be."
No we are not. In fact quite the opposite, we are getting pay cuts to base salaries.
"Any info about CSPG? Heard some rumours today"
CPSG is not affected by LRs this year.
Sadly true.

"What is SBG?"
sheet business group
What is SBG?
Are there any layoffs in INSBU?
No BU is spared by layoff sadly including SBG. Do they layoff Meraki and AppDynamics?
SBG will be taking a bit hit.
@ZAQp6wD-4elv Who said I was whining when I explained what the package was that I got when I got laid of in Sept. 2016? I was providing information. I like to come on here to listen to what things are like at Cisco these days. What is your reason for coming on here? To complain about people who shouldn't be on here. You're a dork!
Why are people who got LR'ed in 2016 or earlier still coming to whine on here? Move on babe, it's over.
SE Sales are just deadwood. Customers can place their orders online and the equipment would be shipped over. A techy high school dropout can then help the customer to setup that gear.
Channels will be gutted. Let’s be honest - we serve an important function, but most don’t do anything.
I wonder about the Channels organization announcing a re-org now that executives have changed.
Looks like the only person guarantee NEVER be layoff every year August cycle is Cisco CEO. He made the rule to exclude himself. Only time he will be affected is Cisco board kick him out. Maybe he need to be part of the rule to show his leadership.

@2uze I got laid off in 9/2016. The package was essentially the same as what you got except we got a lump sum Cobra payment of 4 months.
July 31st
@2uze: You and I must have been laid-off at the same time in 2018. I got the same package. I also got re-hired in December, it was a tough decision but I took the job to get at some stranded RSU. It was a good move at the time. Now, facing the exact same noise and I expect to be gone in July. This time I take the money.
Got laid off 11/2018. For us it was 1 week of pay for every year beyond 10 years of employment, and 2 weeks for every year after 20 years. 30 days “in-lieu” payment. 3 months severance (if you sign separation agreement). 30 days COBRA lump sum premium (i.e. cash). All accrued PTO paid out. You may get screwed on any RSU vesting or ESPP payouts (I did) depending on timing of termination.
I got LR’d in 2018 Aug 1. Announced in July.
It will happen in time for corporate to cancel your GSX travel and not pay a fee.
I'm trying to get LR package to get effectively a retirement package. Does anyone know the current package based upon number of years at Cisco? It used to be 1 week of Pay for every year of employment plus the standard 60 Days pay and COBRA benefits. I hear that the 1 week for every year of employment may have changed. Any insights?
Names have already been submitted. In my part of the world, notifications and letters will go out end of July.
@ZAQp6wD-1ofm which BU? If anyone has any information about the list of BU's getting affected please add.
August 19, 2019 is the date. Mark your calender. Cisco is not doing well, the stock was downgraded last week. My VP is scared, his palms are always wet these days. Dude just bought a huge 5 bedroom house recently.
If you're worried about layoffs start looking for a new job now. When I got the axe in 2017 my boss told me I had probably 6-8 weeks before the LR occurred. I was laid off 2 weeks later.
Early to mid July announcement, to comply with some jurisdictions and to ensure affected people can cancel their GSX(Impact) plans
It’s pre August this time. GE’s rules...
Cisco has typically announced layoffs end of August.
LRs to be announced by early July.
