Thread regarding AIG (American Intl Group Inc.) layoffs

Major layoffs at AIG in August

I have heard that there will be a major lay off in August. I can't confirm this but all the other talk I have heard regarding RIF's have come to fruition. There were lots of RIF's in 2018 and there have been a lot so far in 2019. Senior Management talked about this in town halls in 2018 and stated they would go into 2019. To add to this we had some major losses with hurricanes, fires etc that happened after town halls. And AIG is getting rid of accounts and a large amount of renewals or new business is going to TPA's. A big reason for that is so that Underwriting can show a profit. It's sad but AIG is being transformed in such a different way. It will never be like it was before and that is a fact.

I love the conjectured rumors turned into fact. Let's throw out a wild opinion to keep everyone working at AIG on pins and needles. No one knows what their plans are unless you sit on the board. My friends in positions to know believe some threads here are baseless. I wrote the comment about the STI Week Layoffs being cancelled. It has proven true. Rumors are just that. No more or less.

Yes claims is being reorganized and as a result there will be some RIF's. They want to automate many functions that just can't be automated. They want to centralize or outsource some functions that are handled by claims. I think it's a big mistake because not only will we lose good employees to RIF's but bottom line our customers will not get the service they deserve.

I have also heard about big layoffs in August. I know the claim department is in the process of being “reorganized”. Too many people and not enough work means layoffs...It is pretty obvious what is coming.

Tell me something I already know about the company. Why am I not surprised after they stopped town hall meeting between year 2017 to 2018.. corporate is a scary world to work for.

To : @ZASUPQ6-tqo My sources, not source wouldn't be dismissed because they haven't disclosed any specific information. Yes many of the RIF's have been preplanned and that includes the next round of RIF's that are coming in August. Some RIF's were put on hold but that doesn't mean they are on hold forever. You must be part of Senior Management trying to do damage control.

An unsubstantiated rumor? Nothing said makes any sense nor would I take it to the bank. We already know AIG is a terrible company. We don't need a reminder by throwing out hypotheticals. BTW, your "source" if there is one would be dismissed immediately if they disclosed any info on an upcoming RIF. Since STI week, there have been a few RIF's but most were preplanned. The company made an organizational decision that week to halt many RIF's that would otherwise occur. I guess the poster expects AIG employees to take a deep breath, stay up all night and not take a vacation this summer.
