Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Offer an incentive and you could clear the decks in one quarter

Darius if you want bold change you need to be bold like Verizon, Ford, GM, GE, UA, UTX, IBM and other real companies

Offer an incentive to leave. How about 2 weeks of severance per year of service up to 2 years of pay

Offer to add 8 weeks to your pension calc for years of service and age for every year of service

Offer to wipe out the age penalty for you and spouse if you are over 55 for starting pension early

You want to get rid of old "useless" employees over 50, then offer something and I bet you'd get all the volunteers you need. If you offer just the standard severance why bother volunteering unless you are 65 years old?

@1dch:

Get rid of the older guys.....EXACTLY what happened to me. I was at Plymouth for 30 years, always good reviews except for my last mid-year, where my temporary boss who DIDN’T KNOW Sh-- about what I actually did, (my group had a temporary manager due to loosing our previous excellent manager to a lay-off), reamed me a new a--hole because some PM was b--ching that his programs weren’t getting enough priority from our severely understaffed group.

Fortunately for me, my financial advisor told me and my wife this past spring that we could retire at anytime, so I bailed out, sans package, this month FOR GOOD!!!

The only thing that I miss are most (but not all) of the people that I worked with.

Love that hidden factory. All suppliers have it and will never share it. I'm in Transitions and we see it all the time. I say good fit the good suppliers. We change them over the slightest savings or promises we know they can't keep. Oh well, they (Honeyhell) will never learn

i watched 1200 people from a supplier that did great work for 12 years loose their jobs to Indian replacements. the KT was only TWO WEEKS. the supplier was smart. they gave the obligatory docs that were specifically requested and did not offer more detail. they told the replacements what they do BUT NOT how. on the day after cut over panic ensued. its a big cover up when the replacements say 'things' are fine. the KING HAS NO CLOTHES and doesn't know it. the whole thing is a check box, costs are reduced, 300 people from India are doing the work of 1200 people for a fraction of the cost and the quality is the same? not. epic fail. LOL.

One thing i will never do is train a foreigner to replace me. They can threaten me with loss of severance, but I never stoop that low when there are Americans who can do the job but the company wants to go the cheap route of bringing in foreigners.

Heck I'd go with offer of my 401k match to December and my 26 weeks of severance

I'd even help train whomever they want to replace me. Just give me a date so I have that to look forward to

We already have nearly half the people in our area leaving. They are trying to figure out why, not get more people to leave. Yet.

You are asking management to take the high road. Instead of offering incentives they use falsified employee reviews to shame and bully older employees in hopes that they'll just leave. No severance equals money in the CEO's pocket. They are having too much fun crushing good, productive people. Incentives would certainly be kinder. Don't you dare even think of HON management offering anything resembling kindness. They think good management is tough management. They are ba$tards pure and simple.

why should they do anything or spend more money than they have to? They already have a very orderly shutdown going on now.
