UP was somehow worse than being on a FOB in Afghanistan. Really.
Even while deployed there were set days off, guard shifts, a chow plan, and a rest plan. You could also relax on holidays when you weren't on duty and could take leave.
In other words, even the Military, while operating in a warzone, understands that work/life balance is actually a thing. UP doesn't get this. When it became clear that I was expected to sacrifice my life for the shareholders I gave my two weeks notice. Second best decision I ever made, right next to not re-enlisting.
Pro tip: don't give them notice when you quit. It helps them more than it helps you. I learned this the hard way.
Yeah I’m sure the board cares. Hey, are the employees happy? Let’s check Glassdoor. We better get some hot dogs ready. They only care about stock and operating ratio.
This should be up on the UP ONLINE PROPAGANDA WEBPAGE!!!
Congrats up. You rank among the very best cable installers, off price retailers and truck stops.
Keep spewing your pr propoganda internally and externally.
Gigs up.
The board needs to look into this
LOL
we may have only gotten the bronze this year but next year we'll get the gold!
Good to see that word is getting out about how stressful and toxic it is to work at UP.
Everyone needs to do their part and continue spreading the word about the nepotism, micromanagement, bureaucracy, and hostility that defines every activity at every level of operation.
Gold tuurds next year
