Recent layoff only in GTS or GBS?

it was confirmed that recent layoff occurred in GTS? Can someone from GBS confirm same or separate RA's for GBS coming soon?

5osw. Can I ask what your specialty is within GBS IBM has been selectively doing this across most of the divisions. marketing has to be at 70% by end of the quarter, services have to be at specific utilization’s by end of the quarter. The only folks who don’t have to produce are the exec management teams. They can lose revenue at will and keep their job. It takes a special skill apparently to

I am in GBS and just got semi layoff notice. I have been on the bench and was just told I need to get my utilization to 100 for the next 8 weeks otherwise I will be laid off. Problem with that there are no projects in practice and my manager been trying to place me for the last two months.

Layoffs is services are related to 2 things. The Redhat acquisition and the profit margin of the services that you provide. Being in GTS or GBS has nothing to do with it.

If your job overlaps with a service that Redhat provides, you will most likely get hit

If your job is on the lower side of the profit equation (20-25%) you most likely will get hit

If your job overlaps with a sector that IBM chooses to not play in anymore you most likely will get hit (lotus, commerce, rational, etc etc)

It’s all about lowering costs and boasting profits to an acceptable range. If you work in a “strategic” area, you can still get hit. If you are a high cost part of the solution, IBM will look to replace you with a lower cost solution It’s not rocket science, or essential personnel, or performance based. Figure out what you or your project costs. If it’s high, there is a good chance you will be targeted. The AI computer has been programmed, and it’s been Programmed to take out costs. It’s just that simple

I can confirm that in this round in NL we had a small percentage (a couple of tens of RA's) primarly GBS and in supporting roles.

I've been reading these boards for a while now (also WatchingIBM on facebook) - I haven't seen any wide spread GBS RA reports
