Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Something in the water..

Starkey water has elevated levels of Arsenic, apparently, that exceed the FDA levels. WFM denies it of course, due to their "own testing results". Being sued along with Keurig/Dr Pepper that had another brand with same results.

That makes the koolaid you're drinking even more concerning 🙄

To be fair, the Consumer Report review report based their 'allowable' levels to be lower than the FDA limit.

Starkey does border at the FDA limit, but because of this it is going to need to be processed differently. They are taking these steps, but this changes the positive composition of the water overall. Spring water comes from the Earth... It encounters a ton of naturally occurring minerals. I certainly don't want to be consuming an unhealthy amount of arsenic, but that's why standards are put in place.

I'm sure this will not be an appreciated point of view. I know for a fact that if most people in the country were to actually test the drinking water within their regions, they would be more sketched out by their own tap water than all the retail bottled water on any retailers shelf.

Source: Water freaks me out/ fascinates me and I'm obsessed with it.

People have always been self-disillusioned that everything at WFM is safer by default. I rememeber a mest recall because some fool got metal pieces in the grinder. You also cant guarantee safety of prepared foods when saftey standards arent followed by the individual handling then. Arscenic occurs naturally, in abundance, in some of the most innocuous consumables. Theres evern a well wayer sold there touted to contain varying levels of lithium as a BENEFIT. No thanks.

There is an arsenic problem with the water and it’s being recalled from Target and Walmart as well. Whole Foods has had many recalls

. The salads they tell guests are made in house are really made by an outside source and packaged in house were recently recalled as well.

I brought up the news about Starkey water to a veteran TM at my store. Her response: “Who wrote that article? You know the media is biased against Whole Foods because they’re in bed with big pharma.” WFM corporate makes me fume, but the veteran TMs still drinking the kool-aid just make me sad.

The best way to work at Whole Foods is never buy into the hype. I worked there 14 yrs. It's an illusion. I bought into the hype. They want tms to believe the food they sell is better than other stores so they can charge higher prices. It's all the same food just different packaging. A long time ago, a corporate person that I liked and tried to do a good job, pulled me aside and said, the best advice I can give is....this is just a grocery. No better, no worse than any of the others. I thought he was awful for saying it. Looking back it was the best advice I ever got at WFM. Don't buy in...do your job...go home. It's just a grocery store.
