I have to say that, the series and movies of the Star Trek franchise have been very forward-looking. Just look at some of the technologies they displayed that eventually came true, such as the 3-D printers in a wall door that would just pump out whatever you ordered from a cheeseburger to a bottle of brandy.
But...they also had robot surgeons. So did Star Wars. So health care may not always be a non-robotic realm. Actually, there are robotic surgeons already so...I vote for "Medicinal Horticulture". At least you can enjoy it before robots take that over, too.
Also AI is already being used by an IBM Watson that is programmed to scan x-rays and other medical imaging better than a human can.
So I guess the best thing to do is get into robotics...until robots design & build themselves. Like the Skynet & Terminators.
Yep, humans are screwed. No wonder why the birth rate is going down for educated people in the U.S.
Anything in healthcare. Anything that can't be outsourced or done by robots or AI. Might be better off learning a trade, you might even end up running your own business someday. Engineering was a good job for over 40 years but not a great career.
Brewing Science or "Medicinal Horticulture"
Electrical or Computer engineering. Just make sure you do it because you like engineering and not just for $$$.
Electrical engineering followed by a medical degree.
