How can we figure out how to all get together since this is anonymous? If anyone at SWO can gather those interested in a union together, please let the hourly people at corporate know somehow. There are many interested there as well.
We cannot keep throwing around complaints on an anonymous thread, hoping someone will pick up the ball and run with it. We all need to be that person. We need to meet and do it. According to the UE website, there is definitely a structured method to follow https://www.ueunion.org/org_steps.html let's stop whining and move forward
Unionize ! The company no longer cares for their employees and their arguments for not going union no longer apply.
Does anyone know if there are any other places online where people might be having this discussion (about Seaworld in general, not necessarily about a petition)? So far I've only found this website.
The company is deathly afraid of a union getting in here. It would cost them thousands and thousands of dollars.
I’m all for a union!!
So a few comments on this thread...
Yea a petition isnt going to do anything. If they were going to listen to -us- they would have done so a long time and they wouldnt continue doing what they are. Im sure a lot of us said going public was a bad idea. Or hiring a CEO that skedaddled from a cruise ship that was dumping trash. Or laying off good people just to bring them back months later.
If we are going to do anything it does need to be a union like others hav esaid and I have even talked to people on the job that want to try to do something like that. Would it work? I dont know. We wont know until we try.
To the "Or you know, get another job" person... yes several of us will be. Or are looking. I know I am looking for another job but a few things in regards to this...
No job search is quick 100% of the time. Or guaranteed. It make take time for people to get to a job that they can support the bills on and not just jump ship to a mcdonalds are walmart.
Some people may be in positions they want to fight for something such as zoological teams. I am sure nobody from Zoo just wants to walk away from the animals that they have come to love and take care of. If they did i would question what they were doing there to begin with.
Also what happens when the next company decides profits are more important than people? At some point we have to stand up to companies that care more about investors then the people who work for them. And I am not saying that we should all make 600k and have 40 weeks of vacations and stuff... but to be paid accurately for the work we do and what we know.
So yea..
You can't be serious - SEA only cares about their board and the shareholders. People like us are simply numbers, a means to an end, and the layoffs show that EMPLOYEES DON'T MATTER and that YOU'RE EASILY REPLACEABLE.
Or you know, get another job
Thats right non stop publicity and a letter to the news will be icing on the cake. The public needs to know what is going on behind the scenes with the employees and how terrible the park has become ,
Union would be the better way to go. At least we’d have someone to fight for our wages and benefits.
It's like..you haven't seen the publicity since 2010??? Non stop news...look it up before startin' that fancy petition...
Exposure is something they dont want , especially if its negative , a petition and the news will bring exposure.
It's not like We are part owners... It's they're co to change and sell off as they choose. We don't vote them in so a petition would do nothing...
A petition to to stop this new vacation plan , are u dumb??
A petition for what?? Or are you just a troll??
