Thread regarding West Corp. layoffs

Intrado Implications

So if the corporate douch bags have changed the name to Intrado which is a division of West specializing in 911 calls, it's safe to say everything else outside of that Apollo is letting go at some point as not profitable enough for them right? Its sad to hear the founders are not even going to be associated with this company anymore. Whoever let West stoop to letting Apollo buy them failed big time although I'm sure they got a big parachute, Tom Barker ah them.

Yes it is. Keep in mind that the revolving door of FDR pseudo-leadership dooshbaggery isn't a result of Apollo though. It has been happening for years.

Just remember, R----dO rhymes with Intrado. Then there's INTARDO, a play on Intrado. If they can't get the technology right for their employees, what's left of them, then what makes them think they're gonna get it right for their customers?

That Intrado logo is ridiculous. How many lines of some illegal substance were they doing to come up with it anyhow? Like looking at a dragonfly on the end of your new company name is gonna make people think of technology! It looks more like a logo for a PEST CONTROL company.

Have you seen the website? They’re trying to tell us we’re moving forward as a progressive technology company - but the site is made up of all images. No text except in the footer. The site has a horizontal scroll bar. And at the end of the main video, there are links to two other sad videos that look like a 1990s bad PowerPoint.

Technology, huh? And you can’t even make a professionally designed ONE PAGE site? Such a joke.

I don't know if there's any logic to what they are doing with the name change. You can speculate about the future, but this is an id--tic brand change. Of course, I don't work for the consulting firm that got beau coup bucks for helping explore and implement this change so I can't begin to understand the whys. For all the acquired company names that went by the wayside over the years, I don't get the rationale behind selecting the Intrado name or that weird looking logo. As to other comments, why not improve the West brand and products instead? Instead, we live through numerous acquisitions, then the One West branding fiasco that took forever (time and work), then a reorganization via the centralization, all of which has imploded. I suppose c-level leadership doesn't recognize, understand or care about the chaos from an increased workload perspective, another round of customer confusion and lack of employee buy-in.

Remember a while ago they sent that email about the new segmentation of the West businesses...

Enterprise Collaboration (conferencing & UCaaS/West IP/Intercall) - 46% of total revenue

Life & Safety (E911/WNI/original Intrado) - 31% of total revenue

Digital Media (web hosting/INXPO/Avoke/acquisitions from Nasdaq) - 15% of total revenue

Health & Wellness (Health Advocate) - 8% of total revenue

Judging by the fact that Health Advocate makes up such a tiny part of revenue, that segment is going to get dropped by Apollo and sold to another entity or it could be closed/file for bankruptcy to somehow turn money back around for Apollo.

Life & Safety is the segment that contained the original Intrado services, so as far as I can tell, that's what will for sure be moving forward as "Intrado".

Digital Media and Enterprise Collaboration are the ones that I have lots of questions about. Together they make up 61% of total revenue for all of West Corporation, but since there were all of those web hosting lay-offs last week, I think that Digital Media could be another piece that might get stripped down and eventually sold off separately or just closed altogether if the profit margins don't look good enough. Another possibility is that digital media could be bundled up with the enterprise collab business segment and sold off together for maximum profit back to Apollo. The enterprise collab segment has also seen big lay-offs recently, but no full departments were entirely laid off/closed down, so it makes me think that they just got rid of salaried positions here and there to cut their costs and quickly boost the profit margins within that segment (therefore getting ready to sell it off).

Rebranding just confuses customers, of course if the product has a bad image, don't improve it just rebrand it
