Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Q3 layoffs

When adding up pay increases for leads you will see it equals 2 salaried managers pay. Do you think 2 asst managers are being gotten rid of? If so, which ones? I'm Assuming it will be early enough to get 90 days to find another job, buy early enough for you to be gone before being eligible for Sam's share, and still making you work the holidays. Just wondering who else. Is feeling this is going to happen?

so, I'm thinking Q3 is when this will go down in order to not have to pay out the sams share. wondering if they will offer severance or just give you 90 days to find another job within the company. I will be one of those managers to go (hopefully). Already, out looking for another job. if you haven't noticed, the club manager is going to team leads rather than the managers lately. I think they are setting it up for a smooth transition

I know of several assistant managers that stepped down to hourly. Some even in the same club.

I believe 2 to 3 mgs will be elimanated within the year and everyones starting pay will be increased to 14-15 an hour which in turn will get better employees who will actually value there job a little more. With leads carring keys there will be no need for a 4 am mgr or a mgr to stay over with the afternoon shift . That stipulation of leads being able to be in clubs for 1 hour by themselves while open was put in there for a reason. Ive read on here about going back to opening at 10 am and if thats the case then 2 mgrs a day would basically be able to operate the club. Elimanating 3 assistants mgrs would create 110-160,000.00 a year in payroll which will be used for pay increases. Im One of the mgrs thats prob going to be elimanated and I see the writing on the wall. For any mgr that says that's not going to happen, what rock have you been under the last few years because jobs are being elimanated every year and they need payroll dollars and elimanatingus will get what they are looking for.

They can give associates severance and then the managers can keep their job.

"In regards to not allowing managers to step down to leads is due to an Ethics policy." I'm not a manager, but the ones who manage my store are decent, hard working people. The company spouts ethics when it serves the company's needs. There is nothing ethical about taking people's' jobs.

It's all about money with this company. Think about it, in past years they eliminated a position in order to recover the cost for annual increases or to increase the start rates in clubs. This goes all the way back when they eliminated demo then the audit teams. So this year let's eliminate PTCS and fresh market team so we can bump the team leaders pay up. They know pay needs to be in line with their competitors so in order to do that they will need to eliminate some assistants then will turn around and increase the start rates to maybe 15.00 an hour. In the meantime the big dogs still sit back getting their nice checks, living in their nice homes and driving nice cars while the average Joe is trying to figure out how many jobs they need to work to survive.

Makes sense. There is no need for two merchandise managers or two front end managers. That feeling of going to work not knowing if your next to be axed is horrible.

What you say makes a lot of sense.

Six or seven years ago, the company came in and removed all of middle management, the ones who fell somewhere between leads and managers. Anyway they walked them all out. I wonder if this time will be as dramatic.

I know they are refusing to allow managers to step down to leads. What's up with that?
