Internship in Cisco

Getting internship in Cisco is tough because there is huge queue of heirs of Cisco Sr.Managers, Directors and VPs. So where is the chance for others ? To show off they get some students from other universities and load rest with Cisco family. The grade or year for intern at Jr. or Sr. year is rule for outsiders only. The daughters and sons of Cisco management get at Freshman and Sophmore, doing nothing but cutting a paychek and get a referral for next job .... Don't know what Cisco HR is doing ? My daughter applied through website all fours year and not get for a single year...Cisco HR is a puppet or rubber stamp ..leaving all this corruption and empire to rule on investors money

Ah...well that is definition of the 'Cisco Family'...if you are senior enough at Cisco, you can get your Family in regardless of whether they are qualified or not

Managers and above get their kids for all four years which pays off their fees

4X28 = 112K in four years ...pathetic...

Apart from that some managers have set up these consulting companies to take red badge from them

dont know when it is going to end. Another VP promoted his office assistant to Manager grade..

Many of the jobs posted on the Cisco website are for HR to collect resumes. No funding associated with the role.

It's like that for any company this size. It's for employment as well. Good luck getting a job at Cisco by applying on the website. There are other companies to apply to.

At a company the size of Cisco there will always be more applications than either interviews or placements for interns or any role. People will always lose out.

Perhaps her application or her profile just wasn’t what was being looked for. It happens. I’m sure it will happen at least several more times even in early career elsewhere too.

Best to teach her resilience and further positive choice rather than thinking there’s always a negative complex subtext involved... it beats being a lifetime pessimist that’s for sure...

An intern at Cisco would not obtain any marketable experience, work is outsourced overseas or sent to exploited temp workers.

At Cisco it is all about helping friends and family. So with Cisco engineering 80% Indian, non-Indian applicants have little chance of getting an internship. Best to accept you are not Indian, or do not know the right Indians, and move on. No opportunity for you here at Cisco. Try elsewhere.
