Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

BNYM Clients - READ THIS

Take a good look behind the smoke and mirrors that this company puts in front of you. The employees are treated like dirt. Moral is as low as it’s ever been. Our senior managers are leaving on a regular basis. I’m still employed here and can’t stand seeing what’s happening. This was a company to be proud of at one time. No more. Think twice about whether or not you want to do business with a company where the employees live in fear daily. Will today be the day I get terminated? Loyalty and dedication are no longer valued or rewarded. Wish someone would stand up to the top executives that have been dismantling this company.

I overheard a manager talking to his group manager. He was told to let a struggling staff member “dig her own grave” by not offering help or advice. What decent manager would think this is ok? As a team we are here to help each other to ensure our TEAMS mutual success. How sad this company has become.

I have spoken to numerous managers and many have told me that when writing performance reviews, they have been instructed to take something small (a mistake) and make it big. Undeserving staff are being cut. A show for clients and the board at what cost? I’ve been here 31 years and I’ve never seen moral this low and so many disheartened employees.

3vqz - welcome to the forum BNYM management.

The difference here, is the way managers are going about the layoffs, at the instruction of corporate, to setup people for failure. All information will come out when necessary.

I recently left BNY Mellon after searching for a while, because I wanted to do something else, and the internal mobility program at BNY is quite poor.

But I have never seen anyone at BNY "treated like dirt", and I have not experienced anything like this myself. It is sad that this forum which is supposed to be informative and let people know about the current or upcoming layoffs at a company is turning into a pissing match for those who have a sore spot for this or any other company.

There is nothing unique about this wave of layoffs. In 2007-2008 (when I was laid off from another financial company), most of the firms on Wall Street were laying off people left and right. BNY's last quarter was pretty bad, they are not making as much money as in the past and are cutting. And their competition (State Street) is doing the same.
