A kick in the teeth

Let me tell ya about our accounting associate who lost her position and is now a cashier. She is training the new front end leads how to do accounting. While getting a cashiers pay. Now isn’t that just a kick in the teeth??? That is the slimiest, grimiest thing these managers can do to this person. They are using her and it is so sad. It is pure BS!!! I don’t care how you look at it she’s getting shafted out of pay that is due to her because she is still doing accounting work under cashiers pay. Use and abuse!!!!

I’m leaving after 25 years. It is heartbreaking when you finally realize home office dosent care about you and your family. But I’m done, checked out, and will finally get my life back. You all can do the same there are tons of jobs out there. Go for it and put this nightmare behind you. Sams is done.

I was eliminated so the COS's could do the job.... funny in that the COS's were the source of problems at my store check out from one till, deposit to another, use operator till after they were not longer allowed to - really messes up the books. COS's used to pull me to run, then get all flustered when the cash room was not done... I had to tell them the I could not do both jobs at once because "My arms weren't long enough. It was routine that the managers would not sign off on deposits for days on end, often we had over 200,000 sitting there.... The person who took over the front end of thestore I was at had a terrible reputation... once she demanded that I research over shorts for a - I'm not making this up - a net shortage of fifty one cents! REALLY lol

Workday is an anchor that is meant to keep associates in their place and act like a control for managers to use to reshape their clubs.

I was the accounting lead until 2017 when my position was eliminated. I lost $1 per hour at that time. I stayed at the club and worked part time in accounting and the rest of the time in clothing. Because I worked more hours in clothing I had to get paid for that position and lost another $1. I needed benefits and the only FT position was clothing and that's why I lost that $1 per hour. I work full time now in HMS but still have to go to accounting to fix the recycler and do the finalization about once a week. I see a lot of stressed faces at my club but I still try to be positive. I have worked at Sams for almost 26 years.

I am sick of managers playing favorites. Our club has openings for front end supervisor(s)....Manager handpicked the people. We were never told there were openings. Could not get help on how to navigate Workday...People asked for help on how to take the assessment in the Workday. No help, only lies.

Like the last post, the company is ONLY focused on profits and according to our CM Samshare.. I too was an accounting lead and forced to step down to cashier level pay.. Ultimately because of lack of associates who trained in the office all departed eventually guess who they ran to for help. I am the only associate in the club including managers and leads who is able to work and understand the accounting office all with cashiers pay and yes this club is still running and working reports.. Waiting and chuckling to see what's next.. Yes i can leave but there is an age factor to think of.. All though once they push me to the door, then i'm out!

Unfortunately this is how this company has been running for over a year. Once they shut down 63 stores in one day, the writing was on the wall. I'm sorry that they are using people the way they are. As with any company , it's all about the bottom line. No one cares about the people they hurt along the way. Just as long as they make a profit. With that being said, don't give your life to a company. Do what you need to do , no more and no less. Because in a flash they will drop you when they are done using you. I got out of this company and I am ever thankful. Was it scary, yes. To leave a company you have worked for for over 20+ years. To start over , it wasn't easy. But it can be done and you can do the same. Good luck . They will not change their ways. But you can.
